Link Building

Does your website receive a regular supply of visitors, people who go on to make an enquiry or purchase, generating sales for your business?

In order for your website to receive a regular supply of visitors, it first needs to be easily found in the search engines. That means it needs to rank highly for the relevant search terms or “keywords” people are typing.

Achieving a high search engine ranking that generates a regular supply of focused visitors coming to your website is a function of two main factors:

  • Having relevant content on your web pages, incorporating the keywords that people are using to find your site; and

  • Having a supply of relevant incoming links to your website that tells the search engine that other website owners regard your site as important.
Hopefully, if you have purchased your site from CTC, you will already have a site that is optimised for search engines. It may not however be performing as well as you would like in the search engine results. If this is the case, then we need to work on your linking.

There are two ways to go about this. Either you do it for yourself or we can do it for you.

DIY Linking

Building up a list of quality websites that will link to you is a lengthy process. First of all, you need to research who is linking to your competitors’ web sites and prepare a list of potential sites that you would like to request links from. You then need to visit each of those sites, checking that it is relevant to your business. Out of every 100 sites or so that you visit, you will find only a handful (perhaps 5%) that meet your criteria. For those sites that meet your requirements, you will then need to follow the instructions for adding a link to your site and where required add a reciprocal link from your site.

This is not just a one-off process, it is something you will need to continue to do throughout the life of your website, adding links gradually over time so that the search engine’s view of your website and what other sites are saying about you (through their link text) is continually evolving.

All this can be time consuming, and if like most businesses you are very busy, you may not have time to do this.
