| Back Office Systems
The most significant change to 1st Call was made in 2004 when we added a complex Back Office system to manage the dress adverts, taking payments from advertisers and posting the adverts on the website. The site manages both Sellers and Buyers dresses in this way.
The Find A Supplier wedding directory was enhanced at the same time, providing the means for the client to generate further revenue via sales of advertising to wedding suppliers.
The Frontend website and Back Office system were upgraded in 2006 when we added a sophisticated search module which enables prospective brides to find what they are looking for quickly and easily.
Benefits
Ruth had been running her business for several years before she set up her web site. Typically she spent a large budget on advertising in the top bridal magazines, yellow pages and so on. Since the success of her web site, she has now more than halved her advertising costs, as search engines tend to bring in most of her customers, the others coming from specialist bridal magazines.
With the addition of the Back Office systems, placing an advert on the site is quick and easy.

The site first went live in August 1999 with two main features to the site: A showcase of Ruth's best dresses for sale and a classified advertising section allowing brides to sell their dresses from their homes. Not long after that, a wedding services section was added, and an on-line shop through which Ruth could sell the wedding accessories that her prospective brides would need.
The site now attracts up to 5,000 unique visitors per day, having reached more than 7,000 at its peak.
