Website Statistics and Performance Monitoring | Website Statistics
How well is your website performing? How many sales/quotations/enquiries have you received? How many visitors? Where did they come from? Which search engine did they use? Which search terms (keywords) did they enter? Which page did they arrive at your site on? Which page did they leave on? How long did they spend on the site? Where are your visitors located?
These are all questions that you can answer with a good website statistics package.
CTC offers Google Analytics integration with all our websites as standard.
Google Analytics provides you with the tools to analyse exactly where your visitors are coming from. In fact you can drill down to the finest detail and you could, if you wanted to, spend for ever just looking at the data. The trick is to know what you are looking for and which "metrics" are important.
Conversion Tracking
So how well is your website performing?
The bottom line is you need to be aware of certain "metrics" for any particular period of time you are analysing. You need to know:
- How many sales you make (organic vs. Adwords traffic) - check your Analytics statistics for this.
- Your sales conversion ratio e.g. how many visitors on average you need to make a sale.total number of sales divided by total number of visitors
- Your average cost of sales e.g. total cost of sales over a particular period divided by total number of sales in same period (broken down by types of advertising such as Adwords, free search engine listings etc.).total advertising expenditure divided by total number of sales
- Your Return on Investment, ROI(total income from sales minus total advertising expenditure) divided by total advertising expenditure
If you can remember four things about your website it is these.
